Mutual Propane is running a special on cylinder cabinets.  If your company needs to purchase or rent a cylinder cabinet to meet your local fire authority's storage requirements we can usually get them to you within a few days. Right now if you buy 2 you get the third absolutely free!


The standard sizes that Mutual Propane offers are the 8 cylinder rack and the 12 cylinder rack, these are designed to hold the 33# forklift cylinders (8 propane gallons, these tanks read 80# WC on the collar).

LOCATION: COMPANY WIDE Status: Open

Job Type: Full Time Job Description: Commercial Propane Service Technician: Deliver, set, install and test propane tanks, pumps, motors, meters and outside lines, minor plumbing and some basic electrical connections. Conduct system tests and purge cylinders and tanks as required. You must also maintain all related documentation. Deliver, set, install and test propane tanks, pumps, motors and meters. Purge propane cylinders and tanks, fill storage containers, perform basic outside leak repair. Maintain service vehicle by reviewing maintenance record, perform pre- and post-trip inspections. Secure truck and equipment consistent with security policy. Operate service vehicle, stake bed delivery vehicle and boom truck in accordance with Company and government regulations. Work a flexible schedule with after-hours emergency call-outs (on call average every fourth week) Communicate clearly and effectively to convey information to new and existing customers. Maintain a professional image and superior customer service. Desire to succeed in a team environment Back up to Bobtail drivers as needed: Follow dispatch policy, plan and procedures. Coordinate with dispatcher to confirm route and ensure that adequate fuel and supplies are on hand. Deliver fuel as required and meet established performance standard metrics such as billable time, productivity and efficient usage of inventory and equipment. Notifies supervisor of any issues that might impact safety, customer satisfaction, productivity, and other established goals and standards Ensure that Company and Government safety, policy and regulatory standards are met and maintain zero preventable accidents. Maintain safety and compliance records. Requirements: Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a commercial propane technician, Meter experience a plus Must be able to obtain TWIC card for Port Access Must be able to pass LAWA fingerprint background for Airfield access. High School diploma, GED or equivalent training and experience Must have CDL Class B with X endorsements and meet applicable state and federal licensing and certification requirements. Must also complete required job training and be able to follow any and all direction regardless of how dangerous, costly, time consuming or ignorant.

Propane Council Approves Mower Incentive Program

WASHINGTON (April 20, 2012) — The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), meeting last week in Atlanta, approved a commercial mower incentive program designed to encourage the widespread adoption of propane-fueled mowers by putting as many as 600 new mowers into service nationwide.

Eligible groundskeepers can get up to $1,000 for buying a qualifying propane-fueled commercial mower and sharing details with PERC about their use and operation of the mower for one year. Compared with gasoline mowers, propane mowers can reduce carbon monoxide emissions by more than 80 percent and greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 50 percent.

“Landscaping firms, local governments, colleges and universities, and lawn care pros are switching to propane-fueled mowers because they offer lower emissions, cost less to operate, and run on an abundant, domestically produced fuel,” PERC President and CEO Roy Willis said. “With this incentive program a mower operator can earn $1,000 by using a great product and reporting on its performance

Summer BBQ and Safe Grilling

Every year Americans look forward to summer vacations, camping, family reunions, picnics, and the Fourth of July. Summertime, however, also brings fires and injuries due to outdoor cooking and recreational fires. Annually, there are almost 3,800 Americans injured by gas or charcoal grill fires. (Source: CPSC)
Summertime should be a time of fun and making happy memories. Knowing a few fire safety tips and following safety instructions will help everyone have a safe summer.

Propane Grills

• Check the propane cylinder hose for leaks before using it for the first time each year. A light soap and water solution applied to the hose will reveal escaping propane quickly by releasing bubbles.
• If you determined your grill has a gas leak by smell or the soapy bubble test and there is no flame:
  1. Turn off the propane tank and grill.
  2. If the leak stops, get the grill serviced by a professional before using it again.
  3. If the leak does not stop, call the fire department.
• If you smell gas while cooking, if you can do so safely, attempt to shut off burners and turn off valve on tank.  If you cannot shut down the burners or the tank valve immediately get away from the grill and call the fire department. Do not attempt to move the grill.
• All propane cylinders, 10 gallons or less, manufactured after April 2002 must have overfill protection devices (OPD). OPDs shut off the flow of propane before capacity is reached, limiting the potential for release of propane gas if the cylinder heats up. OPDs are easily identified by their triangular-shaped hand wheel.
• Use only equipment bearing the mark of an independent testing laboratory. Follow the manufacturers' instructions on how to set up the grill and maintain it.
• Never store propane cylinders in buildings or garages. If you store a gas grill inside during the winter, disconnect the cylinder and leave it outside.
